Humble Beginnings
I begin with an immediate boon
…a neutral altar in the very first room. Because monks are vegetarian (not vegan) they cannot consume a vast majority of corpses. This makes sacrificing a much more valuable option for them. However, one of the primary rewards for sacrifice - artifacts - were reworked in 5.0 to be classed based on the level of the monster sacrificed. This means I’ll likely get shoddy or weak artifacts at this stage in the game. Monks also, primarily, use Martial Arts over weapons which makes artifact weapons somewhat unnecessary. What this mostly means is that sacrifice is going to be a great way for me to farm for some early luck and reset my prayer timers.
Another difficulty I immediately faced is locked chests (of which I found two). As I have no weapons, I cannot force the chests open and I do not have an unlocking tool. I’ll have to come back to them later when I have proper tooling.
Finally, tonight, I located a general store. I have to be wary of mimics (which could kill me quite easily) but happened to find a very expensive bag. This could be a bag of tricks, holding, or oilskin. All of these are very desirable, so my kitten Cali will have to collect that for me next time I have a treat to give her.
